Depeche Mode album spread under Black Swarm moniker against leaks
The website of the L.A. Times has run a rather interesting story on how big sellers in today's music industry try to avoid leaks as much as possible by all kind of means, one of those being the use of aliases. Recently the album by Depeche Mode has been sent off to editorial staffs of magazines and newspapers as being the newest release from the illustre band Black Swarm. Other aliases used are Arthur Moore, Fur Trees, Barney Rubble, Pete Mitchell and Let Me See the Fish, respectively Faith Hill, Alanis Morissette, Coldplay, Big & Rich, Paul McCartney and Sigur Rós. Already described as "probably the worst kept secret of this album, so far" by the official Depeche Mode webmaster, the idea is that a CD inadvertently left on the desk of a radio executive or a journalist is less likely to be stolen and put online if it says "Black Swarm" instead of "Depeche Mode". Expect some more hot Depeche Mode news in the next hours...
