The Kavanaghs - Some facts about the release
These are some facts about the Eternal Sunday release The Kavanaghs by The Kavanaghs and the marketing strategy.· The Kavanaghs is the debut album by powerpop band The Kavanaghs from Rosario, Argentina. They are a popular band in their home city (Argentina's second largest) but they are still making a name for themselves in Buenos Aires, the capital city and by far the most populated and the cultural capital of the country (as well as probably the most important city of Spanish-speaking South America in cultural terms).
· The Kavanaghs was released by Eternal Sunday. We are a small new label from Buenos Aires. Eternal Sunday's strategy is unique among labels from Argentina and South America since we focus on releasing local music sung in English for the local and the international market. There's almost no tradition of this in the music industry, because everyone focuses in the huge Latin market with songs in Spanish.
· Since the band sound is so unique the marketing/ press campaign in the local market is becoming easy. The first important achievement was that the album was for an exclusive preview courtesy of MySpace Argentina. MySpace Argentina also recommended the album for 10 days at their music page (this is particularly remarkable because MySpace deal with all major and indy labels. The album that replaced The Kavanaghs at the recommended album spot was Regina Spektor's new album).
· People had a great response to the exclusive MySpace preview of the album. Many people asked for the CD/ digital download and some wrote great comments like "I see that The Beatles are alive and well and recording new songs in Argentina" and "your wonderful music cheered me up in a sad day". These reviews are public at The Kavanaghs' MySpace profile, www.myspace.com/thekavanaghs.
· The band The Kavanaghs already had a good reputation among international powerpop fans, their demos were featured at specialized blogs where they got great reviews and they contributed with a song to the Big Indie Comeback Vol 02 compilation released in the UK by Matchbox Recordings. As a result of this several UK based labels shown interest in the band, Parlohone among them. Since the band didn't have their album finished these conversations were postponed.
· Eric Carmen (later a well known solo artist during the 70's) and Jim Bonfanti from the legendary band The Rapsberries wrote an enthusiastic critic of the band: "The Beatles, Badfinger and Raspberries fans will love this band!! They really wear their influences well. Great harmonies and catchy melodies are still alive. It's a pleasure to hear their songs". The CD carries a sticker quoting this.
· Most international online stores specialized in powerpop asked copies of The Kavanaghs to have for sale at their pages, being the most important Not Lame, Kool Kat Music (USA) and Powerpop Academy (Japan). Some of the will give the album some sort of special placement (album of the month or whatever). Other pages like CD Baby and Farolatino will carry the CD as well.
· As every Eternal Sunday release, the album will be for sale worldwide as a digital download in the most important major stores (iTunes, eMusic, Napster, Amazon, Rhapsody).
· The Kavanaghs will tour the UK in August 2009. They will play several dates at the legendary Cavern Club at Liverpool and then they play in other cities.
· One of this shows will be the A Perfect Day festival, a charity festival held in London. The Kavanaghs were not only specially invited, but Tiago (The Kavanaghs' bass player, composer and leader) wrote and recorded the festival's theme song, a wonderful hymn called "Let Love Go All The Way (A Perfect Day)". The song will be played in radio promotions, etc. and it's an unheard thing that a band from Argentina is asked to write the theme song for an English festival.
· All the songs in the album are published by Eternal Sunday/ Universal Music Publishing group. We are actively asking other branches of Universal Publishing to help us make The Kavanaghs get the recognition they deserve.

Monday, January 26, 2009
New release: KooLTURE - Uncovered

The wait for KooLTURE's debut album is finally over. Available in CD and as a digital download.
Eternal Sunday presents Uncovered, the first album by KooLTURE, the project of producer, singer and songwriter José Tramontini. KooLTURE has made a name for himself in the international electropop underground scene, as a result of releasing high quality digital singles and EP's, catchy and dance oriented. KooLTURE has fans all over the world (his MySpace profile has more that 25,000 friends) and these fans demanded to hear KooLTURE's first long play album. The wait is over.
Uncovered is just as it was expected: a brilliant piece, a collection of the finest catchy electropop (most lyrics in English, a couple in Spanish) perfect for dancing, having fun, think about and get touched by the lyrics. A pop kaleidoscope with retro and disco touches, a subtle gay aesthetic, intelligent lyrics, radio choruses, hidden remixes, a luxury packaging and lots of tiger skin.
The songs are instant hits that take us, among others, to the inhibited freshness of "Stupid SuperStar", the reflection about fans and fame of "Fanatic Boy", to the problems and the ecstasy of love of "A Look At Me", "Absolutely True" and "Like A Cat" which give way to the almost metaphysical considerations of the two songs in Spanish, "Irónico" and "Vuelo Fugaz". Fame, success, glamour, dance, nightlife, complicated human relationships, to love and to be loved, the meaning of life, all of KooLTURE's usual themes are present in these 12 tracks with memorable choruses.
The influences are there: Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, New Order, Madonna, 80's and 90's electropop, disco music, pop culture and a subtle gay touch apt for everyone.
The album was co produced by KooLTURE, Sgoliat, Diego Puerta y Sygma (renowned DJ and producer from Roma, Italia) and remixed by y Ladies On Mars (who also mastered the album) and the young PJ Rose. Several musicians appear as guests.
Tracklist
01 Stupid SuperStar (3:15)

Nuevo lanzamiento: KooLTURE - Uncovered

New Release: Southern Electro Originals, the ultimate compilation of the best electropop from Argentina
Eternal Sunday presents Southern Electro Originals, the ultimate compilation of electropop from Argentina with vocals in English.
Since its beginnings in 2006 the label Eternal Sunday had the objective of developing (and then exporting to the world) artists that are part of the Argentinean pop scene with songs in English. This local scene exists, and many of its artists are extremely talented, they write, perform and record great songs of a superb quality, that can sound next to any international hit.
To prove this Eternal Sunday releases Southern Electro Originals, The ultimate compilation of electropop from Argentina. The album has 13 killer tracks that go from the ultra catchy uptempo electropop (KooLTURE, Canal Pop), move to the darker side adding industrial sounds (LastraX, Electrofreek), flirt with house music (Mr Charles Deluxe, Alfredo Norese) and reach a killer disco hymn climax (Polette).
The name of the artists may not be familiar to most people, but this doesn't mean they're newcomers: Electrofreek, who's hit "Hear The Music" opens the album, is the project of the legend of rock nacional Tito Losavio, who was a half of the sucessful duo Man Ray during the 90's. He had played with Charly García, Andrés Calamaro, Los Twists, etc. etc.
KooLTURE has made dozens of dance digital releases and is well known in the international underground electropop scene, having remixed and produced artists from around the world. The same happens to Demarco Electronic Project, the techno twins, who appear on a regular basis on the charts at Beatport.com, the most important dance/ electronic music store in the world. They've made all kind of records, from cutting edge electronic music to electronic tango to hard rock.
Polette is the legendary singer Paula Varela who uses to sing dozens of radio and TV jingles each year and had sung next to international stars like Deep Purple and Shakira.
Alfredo Norese is another known producer, ex member of Macaferri & Asociados, a successful 90's band from Argentina and author of many house tracks sold around the world. Auxiliar Channel and LastraX are very well know to fans of gothic/ industrial/ EBM music around the world. Its producer, Tecnoman SF, produces and records regularly European artists for labels from around the world.
A special mention goes to "Ecstatic Days", the collaboration between Canal Pop and Bea. Canal Pop is the project of Emiliano Canal, a producer from Argentina specialized in pop music with vocals in English and Bea is Bea Conenna, singer from New York City who leads Bea Ba, a North American band that makes rock en español. During a visit of Bea to Buenos Aires they got together and recorded this hit, released as a single by Eternal Sunday. They also made a music video that it’s the official music video for this compilation.
Southern Electro Originals was born to show the world the quality of the Argentinean pop music with vocals in English scene. This was a scene who had almost no support from labels till, Eternal Sunday appeared.
Southern electro Originals is an exclusive digital release. A CD edition will be released soon.

New Single: Canal Pop feat. Bea, "Ecstatic Days"
Eternal Sunday, keeping its promise of releasing amazing Argentinean music for the whole world to enjoy, presents yet another amazing combination: Canal Pop featuring Bea

Canal Pop is the electropop project of Emiliano Canal, the music producer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, specialized in creating and releasing pop music with lyrics in English, who's also the founder of the Eternal Sunday record label. Bea is an American singer songwriter from New York City whose mother is from Argentina. Bea is a big fan of Argentinean music herself and she regularly performs in the New York area singing (mostly) rock en español. This unique contrast (a producer from Argentina who writes in English and a singer from New York who sings in Spanish) was strange enough to make them record and release a fantastic single: "Ecstatic Days".
"Ecstatic Days" is a hyper catchy song that was written by Emiliano Canal and the producer Sebastián "Curlie" Llobera, who currently lives in Melbourne, Australia. The song posses all the ingredients that are already characteristics of Canal Pop's releases: catchy hooks, furious analog synth lines, carefully arranged vocals with dozens of takes and a melody that's so catchy that it is impossible to ignore after twenty seconds.
The Single 01 also presents the B side "God Speaks In Silence" and a remix of the main song by Alfredo Norese, AKA DJ Mágico, a dance music producer from Argentina. A music video was shot and will soon be in rotation in all music channels.
Tracklist for Ecstatic Days (Single 01)
01- Ecstatic Days
02- God Speaks In Silence
03- Ecstatic Days (Alfredo Norese FactoryLove Mix)
"Ecstatic Days" written by Emiliano Canal & Curlie Llobera, "God Speaks In Silence" written by Emiliano Canal. Mastering by Michael Etes.
Canal Pop feat. Bea: Ecstatic Days (Single 01) is an exclusive digital release by Eternal Sunday Records.

New Release: Tango Santo, Tribal Tango
Debut album for the band that came to change the sound of tango forever: Tango Santo
Eternal Sunday introduces the debut album of the band that came to change the sound of tango forever: Tango Santo.
In the last few years different variations of traditional tango were born and revitalized the whole scene. The creation of electrotango, the combination of traditional tango with elements of electronic music was the spark that initiated the tango craze, not only in Buenos Aires, its natal city, but around the world. Producers and bands that came from every music tradition tried new ways of making tango, but only a few artists came up with really interesting and original fusions.
The one archived by Tango Santo is, undoubtedly, one of the happiest combinations. Tango Santo mixes traditional tango sounds with an electronic flavour and African percussion and rhythms. These rhythmic were present in the musical cocktail from which tango emerged in the last decades of the XIX century, but were eventually discarded, though they remained present in Uruguayan candombe and the murgas (in fact traditional tango is one of the few danceable styles that has absolutely no percussion elements).
This idea, of course, it's not new. But the members of Tango Santo are not improvised: the percussionists are members of an African percussion workshop where they study the rhythms, build the drums and instruments (these are not instruments you get in any shop) and perform the music. These years of experience and original research positions Tango Santo way ahead of any other band that could have tried this fusion.
Puro Bailongo (Tango Electro Tribal), the first album of this revolutionary band, has eight instrumental tracks, one of them a cover version of a tango written by maestro Osvaldo Pugliese and the other seven written by the leader of the band, the multifacetic Carlos Boccardo. Carlos is not only a great violinist and composer, he's also a tango lover and has studied its origins extensively, and he combines this role as a musician with many other cool activities: he's a professional graphic designer and an actor, acting in theatre and movies (he got a leading role in "Los Ángeles, La Película", an important Argentinean production planned to be released in 2008), among other things. Of course, Carlos dances the tango every week at the local milongas (places to dance tango) so he took care that every track by Tango Santo can be easily danced.
Eternal Sunday presents this exceptional album that undoubtedly will make History, inside of Argentina as well as in the rest of the world. We keep this way our compromise of taking the best music from our country and sharing it with the rest of the world.

Eternal Sunday exclusive provider for Petrol/ Pistol Records
We at Eternal Sunday are proud o announce the signing of an agreement with the legendary label Petrol Records and its subsidiary Pistol Digital. Petrol is the label created by the mythical Australian CM Murphy, ex INXS' manager and its one of the most important (maybe the MOST important) in the World Music market. It has worldwide distribution via EMI Music.
According to the agreement Petrol/ Pistol will have non exclusive access to the Eternal Sunday catalog to use it in their international compilations.
This agreement was offered by the A&R scouts of Petrol, who actively search around the world for the most promissory new labels to offer them appear at their compilations. We are very proud of this agreement and it helps us to consolidate Eternal Sunday where we want to be: at the front line of the new music for export from Argentina, showing the creations of our artists to the world and actively conquering new markets.

Osho: about journalism
Newspapers help you very much. Early in the morning, before you have even taken your tea. you are ready for the newspaper. And the newspaper brings nothing like news, because there is nothing new. It is the same old rotten thing.
But you feel good: somewhere, somebody has been murdered, somewhere there has been a Watergate, and somewhere something else, and somewhere somebody has stolen, and somebody’s wife has escaped with somebody else... and so on and so forth.
Watching all that, you relax; you feel, 'So, I am not so bad – the whole world is going to the dogs. I am a far better person. I have not yet escaped with the wife of the neighbor. I have not killed anybody yet – although I think of it, but thinking is not a crime where people are actually doing things.'
You feel good. And the moment you feel good, you remain the same"
(Osho, The Tantra Vision Vol 1).

Electronic music pioneer Karlheinz Stockhausen dead
The German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen known for his ground-breaking work in electronic music and aleatory (controlled chance) in serial composition is no longer. He was 79 and died in the German city of Kürten, in Nordrhein-Westfalen so the Stockhausen Foundation led by his ex-wife Mary Bauermeister announced on Friday. No cause of death was diclosed.
Having composed 362 individually performable works, Stockhausen was one of the most important artist in the avant-garde movement after World War II. After a short career in non electronic music in March 1953 he moved to the NWDR studio in Cologne to work on electronic music. The first result of that were two "Electronic Studies", respectively recorded in 1953 and 1954.
Stockhausen also caused lots of commotion with un unorthodox way of woring and thinking. After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States, Stockhausen declared that the attacks were "Lucifer's greatest work of art". However, most of the press only printed the words "works of art".
Stockhausen was a source of inspiration for many electronic musicians like Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre and so on. A commemorative concert will take place soon at the Sülztalhalle in Kürten. Programme, time and date will be announced. A memorial booklet can be downloaded here.
Stockhausen's last controversial work was the Helicopter String Quartet, where four members of a string quartet performed in four helicopters flying independent flight-paths over the countryside near the concert hall. The sounds they played were mixed together with the sounds of the helicopters and played through speakers to the audience in the hall.

Murphy's laws on LOVE
The basic one:
- The amount of love someone feels for you is inversely proportional to how much you love them.
The golden rule:
- Never sleep with anyone crazier than yourself.
The 10 laws that made me laugh (because they're true):
- All the good ones are taken.
- Availability is a function of time. The minute you get interested is the minute they find someone else.
- You get the best sex from the worst one for you
- The duration of a relationship to a person is inversely proportionate to the importance of person to you.
- The hornier someone is, the less likely that it will be they have sex.
Corollary Horniness is inversely related to one's chance of scoring. - You'll think of a great line to say to someone the moment after your chance is gone.
- The person you want the most will end up with the person you hate the most.
- The sexier a man is, the better the chances that he is gay.
- Your seduction potential is inversely proportional to your willingness to seduce.
- The love of your life will only want you back once you are in another serious relationship.
And the law of neighborhood correspondence...
- Show me a husband who won't, I'll show you a neighbor who will
